Honest Policy Briefing

Write for us

We welcome clear, original pitches that help readers understand one public policy concept or choice without assuming specialist knowledge. Send proposals through the Contact page rather than submitting a finished article.

What we welcome

Pitch explainers about policy framing, tools, institutions, implementation or evaluation. A strong proposal identifies the question, the central idea readers will take away, and why the subject remains useful beyond a single news cycle.

Make the case plainly

Keep a pitch concise. Define any necessary technical terms, identify the scope of the proposed piece and note what distinctions or trade-offs it will clarify. We favour focused explanations over broad surveys and unsupported claims.

How to send a pitch

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option, then say clearly that your message is a pitch. Do not include confidential information or assume that a proposal has been accepted until you receive a response.
